Boys & Girls Clubs programs have
taken members from the Clubhouse to
the White House; from the games room
to the corporate boardroom; from the
high school orchestra to Carnegie
Hall.
Boys & Girls Clubs of America has a
lineup of tested and proven
nationally recognized programs that
address today's most pressing youth
issues, teaching young people the
skills they need to succeed in life.
More than 25 national programs are
available in the areas of education,
the environment, health, the arts,
careers, alcohol/drug and pregnancy
prevention, gang prevention,
leadership development and
athletics.

The Arts
Art After School
In this partnership we will be
learning the fundamentals of art,
taught by a professional artist in
weekly workshops. We will also
visit the Tacoma Art Museum, and
wrap it all up with an exhibition of
the students work.
National Fine Arts Program
This is a year-round program that
encourages artistic expression among
club members ages 6-18 through
drawing, painting, print making,
collage and mixed media. Artwork
will be displayed at local and
regional exhibits.
Photography Club
Experiment with pinhole cameras,
developing your own film and
printing your own pictures. We will
enter our best works into the
National Boys & Girls Club
Photography Exhibit.
Arts and Crafts
Weave lanyards, draw, paint, paper
mache’, bead jewelry and explore
your creative side. We will be
crafting as well as trying out fine
art mediums such as pastels, pencil,
charcoal, watercolors and oil
paints.
Dance Class
A range of dances from Jazz, Lyrical
and ballet. Let’s learn and
have some fun together. We
will perform our dances in front of
an audience as a finale. No
experience needed.
Drama Club
Participate in Theatre exercises and
games. Learn different drama
techniques and skills. Finally, put
it all together at the end in a
grand finale play to perform in
front an audience.
Character and
Leadership Development
Youth of the Month
Youths of the Month are chosen on
the basis of their participation,
sportsmanship, school
improvement and are nominated by
their peers, volunteers and staff.
Youth of the Year
Designed to promote and recognize
service to club and community,
academic performance, and
contributions to family and
spiritual life. Potential for
scholarship money for college!
Small group leadership development
clubs for youth ages 11-13 that
selects its own officers chooses its
own activities and plans and
implements its own community service
projects.

Sports, Fitness and
Recreation
Northwest Youth Sports Alliance
NYSA
is a partnership between Boys
& Girls Clubs and Metro Parks that
was established in 2005 to
streamline and standardize youth
sports resources for parents and
players in Tacoma.
Daily Games room Tournaments
Foosball, Power Prop, Blow Soccer
and other games make up our daily
games room tournaments.
Friday Night Movie
We
will rent the hottest blockbuster
and pop some popcorn. Come and join
us-kick back and enjoy!
Monthly Birthday Bash
Join us in celebrating all of our
Club member’s birthdays that have
occurred in that month with cake,
singing and lots of fun.
Teen Late Night
For members 6th grade through age 18
Health and Life
Skills
Healthy Habits
Go on an adventurous nature hike,
make a food pyramid, and participate
in a snack burn-off all while
learning about nutrition, exercise,
and how to incorporate sensible
diets into an active lifestyle.

This program addresses the problems
of drug and alcohol use and
premature sexual activity and
teaches young people how to say no.
This program includes discussion,
role playing, practicing resistance
and refusal skills, developing
assertiveness, strengthening
decision-making skills and analyzing
media and peer influence. It’s
educational and fun at the same
time.
A
program for girls to come together
to discuss issues that are relevant
to their lives, share experiences
and learn from each other, under
supervision of caring professional
staff.
Boys to Men/Guy Talk
Learn about health and fitness,
self-esteem and promoting healthy
attitudes and lifestyles all from a
guy’s perspective. Join us for guest
speakers, games, role plays and some
male bonding.
Education and Career
Development
Get help with your homework while
earning power points and work your
way towards great incentives.
Each week you will have the chance
of spending or saving your Power
Hour Points on Fridays.
Project Learn
Through Project Learn, club staff
use all areas of the club to create
opportunities for high yield
learning activities. These
activities often include reading and
writing projects, educational games
such as Scrabble and math bingo, and
homework and tutoring help.

Participate in goal setting
sessions, create an action plan, and
follow through to achieve success in
the future. Goals for
Graduation allows kids ages 6-15 to
set short and long term goals in
order to reach their own ultimate
dream.
Junior Staff Ages 12-18
Fill out a job application to become
a Junior Staff. Go through an
interview process and you may be
chosen to help out with activities
at the Club and even learn office
skills and how to run an effective
program. It’s a great way to get
that “first job/volunteer”
experience and make contacts for
future job references.

BOTT
Stars
The
Star program provides not only
incentive for members, but a ranking
scale which indicates, at first
glance, the member's skill set and
experience regarding the proper use
of technology.
BOTT Media
The
BOTT Media Contest represents
the best of
Club Tech and the
Digital Arts Suite youth work.

Tech
Skill Tech
Learn the Microsoft Office Suite, Word,
Excel and PowerPoint by using fun
projects.
Design Tech
Takes kids and teens on a journey to
creating publications, Designing Web
pages and beyond. Each activity
supports skills previously learned.
Music Tech
Members explore a variety of digital
music software applications and
basic music theory. They learn to
write sheet music, mix musical
loops, and compose and record
original songs.
Photo Tech
Members take digital photos, explore
the affects of distance and angle,
and learn about photo composition.
They also learn digital photo
manipulation.
Movie Tech
Learn how to use a digital camera, edit your images,
and become familiar with the
software to make your own movie.
